Another raft of announcements from Google’s AdSense program today: WebSearch, more Channels, an excellent preview tool (want to know what ads will appear on your site in Australia? - now you can.) and some account changes that you can exploit if you can’t stand getting smallish dollar cheques that then cost you several quid to cash. Also a new small ad format.
WebSearch is most interesting IMHO at this stage: it allows you to install a Google search tool anywhere (almost) on your site. When someone searches using this they see AdWords style ads - but you get to share the revenue if someone then clicks on them.
There’s an interesting quirk to this arrangement - you can select whether you want people to search your site or the web. In many casese you should select the site search as a default because if the searcher doesn’t find what he or she is looking for, all they see are AdSense ads that ARE relevant. This is highly likely to generate those clicks that AdSense partners want.
