The other issue is Outlook 2003 not downloading images without a specific request.  If you are banking on getting your message across immediately then Outlook 2003 pretty much scuppers that if your mails are graphical.

AOL9 does the same I think.  If you just use HTML to measure opening rates, Outlook 2003 scuppers that as well because it doesn't run the link.
