Why blogs are hot property now, and why were they advocated in post above? Thats right - they allow to get better rank in search engines due to more active interlinking characteristical of blogs, something that Google's PageRank loves so much.
So, the main objective to justify blogs for business appears to be their temporary ability to gain better rank. Is this a fair gain? Well, I am not convinced it is given that main objective appears to gain better rank! It is already known that blogs were used to spam Google to get top rank for results that are hardly relevant (see "french military victories", "weapons of mass destruction", various bits on "SCO" etc) . Funny - but not relevant. This appears to be more ethical way than using black hat tricks, but its just a matter of time before black blog tricks gain popularity.
By saying blogs will be deleted I dont mean they will disappear completely - but it might be for the best to separate blogs from WWW pages in the same way as Newsgroups were separated.

Indeed the point of a good search engine is to provide most relevant results. However I am not convinced that blogs are somehow more relevant. It might be the case for some queries (and people!) but it may not be the case for others.

Blogs perform better in Search Rankings, Loz, 4 Jun 13:26 I wouldn't exclude blogs from a search engine's index but (if technically possible) allow people to filter them out via an advanced search.
